Gluten-Free Myth 1: You’ll Gain Weight

One symptom of celiac disease is unexplained weight loss. If you’ve been there, you know why. If you haven’t, I envy you. Ain’t no fun always noting where every restroom in the world is, just in case you need to make a mad dash in that direction.

So, yeah, it makes sense that some celiac patients might gain weight after adopting a gluten-free diet. In many ways, this is a healthy thing. While I don’t know if you can be too rich, it is well-documented that you can be too thin. Diet and Overall Health

In my extended circle of friends, acquaintances, vendors, and colleagues, there has been a steady drip of bad news, particularly in the past week. Three people in that overall group have been diagnosed with illnesses directly attributable to their diets. One is making active, if a bit misguided (which I’ll get to in a moment), changes in his diet. One will be facing tough decisions over the next few weeks.
